Still exceeding expectations
ellodave was founded on a desire to do things differently and exceed client expectations, and over a decade later this is still what drives the agency. Although these days it’s not just Dave – there’s a whole team of experts whose experience you’ll have on your side.

What clients say
Ellodave took our brief and turned it into something we could actually use — clear structure, sharp design, and no drama when we changed direction halfway through.
Good to Know
Yes. We're accepting new projects right now. Use the project brief button on the site to tell us what you're planning; we'll read it properly and come back with sensible next steps.
We help with the full journey from brand strategy and visual identity through to campaigns, print, and digital. That might mean naming and positioning, logos and guidelines, brochures and signage, or websites and campaign assets. Most projects sit in one or two of those areas; some run end to end. If you're not sure where your brief fits, tell us what you're trying to achieve and we'll point you in the right direction.
We'll kick things off with a call, usually on Microsoft Teams or Zoom, to hear what you're trying to achieve, who's involved, and what success looks like. From there we'll agree sensible next steps: scope, timeline, and how we'll work together. No mystery decks; just a clear path forward.
It depends on scope, but as a rough guide: brand identity work often runs four to eight weeks; smaller print or campaign pieces can be quicker; websites usually need longer because content, approvals, and build all take time. We'll agree a realistic timeline when we scope the job, and we'll flag anything that might slow things down (missing copy, lots of approval rounds, tight print deadlines) before we start.
Every project is scoped individually. We'll talk through what you need, what's in and out of scope, and then quote clearly before any work begins. Larger jobs are often fixed-price; ongoing work usually sits on a retainer. No off-the-shelf packages that don't fit anyone properly.
Both, depending on the project. Strong words are part of how we think about brand, so we often write or shape headlines, key messages, and tone of voice as part of identity and campaign work. For websites, we can write pages with you, edit what you supply, or work from your existing copy if it's already in good shape. We'll agree who does what at the start so nothing's assumed.
We do both. Sometimes a business needs a clean break; sometimes the right move is to keep what's working and tighten what's drifted. We'll look at where you are now, what's holding you back, and whether a refresh or a fuller rethink makes more sense. We'll be honest if we think you're closer to one than the other.
Your proposal will spell out deliverables, rounds of feedback, and what happens at handover (files, guidelines, print-ready artwork, or a live site). Things like photography, stock imagery, print production, postage, domain registration, and third-party licences are usually quoted separately unless we've agreed otherwise. We'd rather be clear upfront than surprise you halfway through.
Yes. We usually build on WordPress so your team can update text, images, and everyday content without calling a developer. We'll set things up sensibly, show you how it works, and leave you with something you can actually run. If you'd rather we handle updates ongoing, that's what retainers are for.
Yes, but we only host websites we've designed and continue to look after. That way we know exactly how everything's built, we can handle backups and restores properly, and you're not left explaining a mystery server to someone who didn't build it in the first place.
Yes. We work with a number of clients on retainer. Get in touch and we can talk through what you need and how we might structure it.
It depends what you need, but retainers are usually for ongoing design and marketing support: social assets, campaign tweaks, presentations, print updates, website amends, and ad-hoc consultancy. You get a regular slot in our diary and a clearer sense of turnaround than one-off jobs. We'll shape the retainer around your actual workload, not a generic bundle you won't use.
We're not currently recruiting, but you can email the studio with your details.
We're based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The studio is a converted barn in the Staffordshire Moorlands, peaceful enough to think clearly and connected enough to work with clients across the UK. We're quite hard to find and easy to miss, so here's our what3words: ///league.stone.serves
All the time. The studio's in the Moorlands, but most projects run over Teams or Zoom with the occasional in-person session when it helps. We've only worked with clients in the UK and beyond. You're welcome to visit when you're nearby; you're equally welcome to keep it fully remote.
Yes, of course. The kettle's usually on and there's a decent biscuit tin knocking about. We're a friendly bunch and happy to show you around. Give us a call or drop us an email and we'll fix a time that works.
